HDR photo editing means merging an exposure bracket — typically three to nine frames of the same scene shot at different exposures — into one image that keeps detail in the shadows and outside the windows. It is the difference between an interior where the room is properly lit and the window is a white rectangle, and one where you can see the garden. Exposure blending

Ghost removal
Where something moved between frames — a branch, a ceiling fan, a person walking through — one frame is chosen as the reference for that area and masked over the blend, so the subject appears once and sharply instead of as a semi-transparent double.
Flambient blending
For mixed lighting, flash frames are blended into the ambient bracket and masked by hand. This kills the orange cast from tungsten bulbs and the green cast from fluorescents, and gives neutral whites that straight HDR cannot reach.
Vertical and lens correction
Converging verticals are straightened, barrel distortion from wide-angle lenses is corrected, and the horizon is levelled — the corrections that make architectural interiors look professionally shot rather than snapped.
Colour cast and white balance
Room-by-room white balance so a warm lamp in one corner does not tint the whole frame, plus removal of colour bleed from painted walls and carpet.
Sky replacement
For exteriors, a flat overcast sky is replaced with a matched clear or dusk sky, with the roofline masked cleanly and the ambient light on the building adjusted so the replacement is not obvious.
Object and clutter removal
Bins, cables, light switches, reflections of the photographer in mirrors and windows, and — on request — cars from driveways.
